Our Story:
We started baking our own pet treats several years ago. The funny thing is that our inspiration stemmed from our human children. They, the human children, began to suffer from an array of food allergies and we began baking and cooking with wheat free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, natural and organic products for their health and wellbeing. During the process of battling these food allergies in our human children, we noted that our Leonberger, Cody, would occasionally suffer bouts of diarrhea and itching issues despite their store-bought natural/organic dry foods.
Naturally, our vet assumed the dog was occasionally eating something he shouldn’t — a stray piece of candy, a sock, a toy — and although we never caught him doing that, we thought for sure she was right. One day, I noticed mucous and blood in my dogs stool and that is when the light went on in my head. He was having food allergy symptoms, just like my children! We decided to try home-made kibble, wheat/gluten and dairy free. Low and behold, our problems were over. Cody has not had one bout of diarrhea in two years, nor has he gotten a rash. The itching stopped within one month.
We adopted a second dog, an Irish Terrier that had been abused and abandoned. She was underweight the day we brought her home. The rescue recommended we keep her on the same diet they had been using, the standard dry dog food (not sure if I can name brands here), and she too was having bouts of diarrhea and stomach problems. She was even vomiting daily. We did the same thing, removed the wheat/gluten and dairy from her diet and she has done fantastic ever since.
Recently my daughter, she’s only five, decided that it would be a good idea to make sure other dogs got healthy treats too, and thus was born POP’s.
Of course, we don’t just specialize in dog treats. We also provide treats for Sugar Gliders, Hamsters, Guinea pigs, Rabbits, and birds.
We also plan on expanding to offer Sugar Glider toys, pouches, and bedding.
